I went and looked up Yuk the other day and interesting to see that even he is still using the sacrifice method and spec.
Ghostcrawler on the WoW official forums has come to realize that warlocks did get hit with the nerf bat a tad too hard. We should be seeing a lot of changes in the near future, as honestly none of the 51 point talents in our trees are worth while really. We have already had a hotfix put in place 2 days after the 3.0.2 patch.
I am a noob but I have done pure affliction so far. I LOVE haunt. I have a cast sequence set up to do haunt and the orders based on cool down times. I think I need to think it through a little better because I didn't take into consideration cast times. I try to get the life tap in there before the haunt is finished gaining the health for me because it will fill me right back up there. Other than Dots I am using a life drain. I figured that was how I was playing while I was demonology (except letting blue tank for me) I might as well choose a spec that is meant for my playing style. While soloing, and in a group I never have to wait for health or mana at least. I tried to power level and I power died!

I have to assume your speaking of Ganome here. I found for leveling that demonology worked the best. Having the felguard is almost easy mode he is just so bad ass. He puts a world of hurt on mobs and keeps the threat up great so they don't come at you. Very survivability specced as well as its really hard to die when he is out and you have Soul Link up. I actually need to do some reading up more on the Demonology spec. There is a talent in there to get a proc that goes RAID wide and is a nice little boost. I will gladly take a personal DPS hit if it helps the party or RAID out with their DPS. I am fairly used to it anyway for I was the one that always seemed to put up Curse of Elements so I took a hit there, but I knew that my hit meant a boost for others. But that was before the nerf and a boomkin now makes that useless with one of their talents.
